The Coordinator Fitness Services will provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across all fitness operations, ensuring the delivery of inclusive, high-quality health and fitness programs and services that activate, connect and empower our community to live healthier, more active lives.
What you’ll be doing:
- The Fitness Services Coordinator is responsible for leading the delivery of innovative, high-quality health and fitness programs and services across Hume Leisure facilities.
- This role oversees all aspects of fitness operations, including program and service management, staff leadership, equipment maintenance and replacement, contractor coordination, 24/7 gym operations, budgeting, and providing strategic support to the Unit Leader – Fitness and Sport.
- Ensure the health and safety of all members of the public using the facilities, and in particular be responsible for the safety of members using the gymnasium and participating in Group Fitness classes.
- Oversee the operations of the Technogym (Health and Fitness App) and provide suggestions on technological improvements based on emerging industry trends.
- Assist in the development, implementation, delivery and review of policy and procedures that will contribute to the success of Hume Leisure and ensure that it meets its obligations including financial, workplace health and safety, industry and legal requirements;
- Ensure business, operational and financial targets are met and where possible exceeded and relevant variance reporting is undertaken and provided to the Unit Leader Fitness and Sport.
- Supervise the performance of permanent/casual/temporary/sessional (including personal trainers) fitness services staff and contractors including the appropriate training, and rostering of all fitness services staff to ensure the highest standards of safety and customer experience;
- Monitor industry licences/qualifications for all fitness services staff particularly those that require updating and/or refreshers.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and an ability to manage these issues.
- Experience with the operation of a Leisure centre which incorporates a gymnasium and Group Fitness Classes including Aqua Aerobics.
- Experience in developing programs and services to deliver excellence in customer outcomes.
- Demonstrated staff leadership and management skills.
- Experience in working with Fitness softwares, POS or similar applications.
- Strong written and oral communication skill with the ability to gain cooperation and communicate both verbally and in writing to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and in the supervision of other employees.
- Capacity to liaise effectively with external stakeholders and collaborate internally to resolve and discuss operational problems and specialist matters in the provision of leisure centre services and facilities management.
- Experience in meeting key operational and financial objectives for health and fitness in a large leisure centre environment.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications (at degree or diploma level) relating to Physical Education or Bachelor of Science (Human Movement) Degree, or Fitness Leader’s Certificate (Resistance Training) with relevant experience or a combination of lesser qualifications and substantial relevant industry experience.
- Current level 2 First Aid qualifications and CPR qualifications.
- Current Physical Activity/Fitness Australia accreditation.
- Current valid driver’s licence.
