About Waves WA
At Waves WA, we deliver Positive Behaviour Support that is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, and genuinely person-centred. Inspired by lived experience, our work focuses on understanding the meaning behind behaviour, supporting autonomy, and improving quality of life for participants and their families. We are a values-driven organisation that intentionally moves away from compliance-based or behaviour-control models.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced PBS Practitioner (Core level or above) to support participants across the Greater Perth metropolitan region and Mandurah area. This role suits someone who is confident in assessment and plan development, able to work autonomously, and strongly aligned with neuro-affirming and trauma-informed practice.
What We Offer
At Waves, we believe people do their best work when they feel supported, trusted, and able to work in ways that suit their life and nervous system.
We are not a traditional 9–5 provider. Our practitioners shape their calendars in ways that work for them and the people they support. Some people work school hours, some prefer later appointments, some cluster visits — we focus on sustainable rhythms rather than rigid schedules.
Our role is to provide the support structures that allow you to do your best work.
What this looks like:
Salary
- Starting from $90,000 + 12% super (FTE) for Core Practitioners
- Higher salary available based on experience and proficiency
Travel
- Travel reimbursement up to $5,000 per year (FTE)
Flexibility
- Work-from-home and community-based work
- Full-time, part-time, casual and subcontracting options available
- Autonomy to structure your calendar in a way that works
Professional Support
- Reflective supervision and mentorship
- Systems designed with neurodiverse clinicians in mind
- A team culture built on kindness, authenticity, and advocacy
Most importantly, we aim to create a workplace where people feel safe to show up as themselves, bring their lived experience, and grow as practitioners.
How We Work at Waves
At Waves, we are building a team that is committed to more than just a job. We are committed to each other, the people we support, and the principles that guide our work — neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, and person-centred practice.
We are not a traditional 9–5 provider. Our practitioners have autonomy to structure their calendars and caseloads in ways that suit them and the people they support. But with this flexibility comes responsibility: we need practitioners who are fully invested in the outcomes for the people they support, and in the success of Waves as a team.
We value lived experience — of disability, neurodivergence, or caring — as a real form of expertise that strengthens our practice. But we also need practitioners who show up consistently, communicate clearly, and are aligned with our values.
People who thrive at Waves are self-directed, reflective, values-driven, and committed to being part of a supportive, collaborative team. If that sounds like you, you’ll find a workplace here where you can do your best, most meaningful work.
How to Apply
To be considered for this role, please email your resume and cover letter to admin@waveswa.com.au.
Please Note: To be considered for this role, your application must include:
- Your PBS Practitioner Number
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Your Certificate of Completion for the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Your cover letter must also address:
- Your location.
- A brief reflection on any lived experience you bring (if comfortable sharing).
- Answers to the following reflective questions:
- Reflective Question 1: Name a psychological theory, framework, or author that has influenced your approach to supporting people made vulnerable. Why does it resonate with you?
- Reflective Question 2: What would you do if a person you are supporting is showing dysregulation, aggressive language, and slamming things down while out in the community?
For suitable applicants whose documentation aligns with our needs, we will request a fully redacted example of an IBSP or CBSP prior to interview to understand your clinical reasoning and alignment with NDIS requirements.
We are deeply committed to the safety and quality of support for our participants. Because of this, we are only able to progress applications that include all of the documentation, screenings, and reflective answers listed above. Providing these upfront helps us understand your registration status and ensures we can move quickly to the next stage of our clinical review.
At Waves WA, we aren’t just looking for a practitioner; we are looking for a teammate who believes that PBS should be a tool for liberation, not control. If you are passionate about ethical, neuro-affirming practice and meet our registration requirements, we can’t wait to see how your unique perspective - and lived experience - will help our participants grow.
