The Murray Rose Aquatic & Fitness Centre (AFC) represents a cornerstone of our school?s commitment to health, fitness, and wellbeing, offering facilities that support a wide range of aquatic and fitness activities.
Cranbrook School is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Head Coach to Lead and coach the 13 & Over performance squads, with a focus on athletes competing at State and National Championships, driving outcomes aligned to top 10 finishes and medal performances. This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Head of Aquatics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement structured training programs across all senior squad levels, incorporating both in-water and dryland components.
- Lead the ongoing development of the Cranbrook Senior School competitive swimming program, ensuring alignment with performance objectives.
- Support the Head Swim Coach in the design, development, and implementation of the Cranbrook Senior Squad Framework, establishing a clear and integrated pathway from district through to national level performance.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Head Coach - Junior Programs to ensure a seamless transition between squad levels, with aligned programming, athlete development principles, and performance expectations.
- Attend and actively contribute to swim meets, club nights, training sessions, and clinics, providing leadership and support to athletes and coaching staff.
- Maintain current knowledge of swimming industry trends, methodologies, and high-performance standards to ensure the delivery of best-practice coaching.
- Act as the Cranbrook Aquatic Swim Club Race Secretary, overseeing the planning of competitions, including setting up all meets in Meet Manager, submitting events to METSEA, and publishing meet information via Swim Central.
- Coordinate and deliver club race nights, including the organisation and booking of qualified officials and volunteers, ensuring all events run efficiently and in accordance with competition standards.
- Conduct regular athlete assessments and reviews to ensure swimmers are placed appropriately and progressing within the program.
- Assist in the selection of individual events and relay teams for both Cranbrook School and Cranbrook Aquatic Swim Club competitions.
- Ensure the squad KPIs, including athlete progression, retention, and program sustainability.
- Ensure all squad operations comply with relevant safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Head Swim Coach and Head of Aquatics as required.
- Support the Learn to Swim program by contributing technical expertise and guidance, ensuring a clear and effective pathway from Learn to Swim into squads.

Working with Children Check and Working Rights
The successful applicant for this position will be required to hold a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance
Applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or hold a visa with appropriate working rights.
Essential Requirements
- First Aid Certificate
- Current Provide/Perform CPR
- Australian Swim Coach Licence
- Development Swimming Coach Accreditation
- Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
- Previous coaching experience at competitive levels
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working in an aquatic/fitness centre
- Previous experience working in an independent school
- ASTCA Advanced Coach Accreditation (Previously Silver)
- Pool Lifeguard certificate
