About The Role
We’re looking for an energetic, people-focused leader who loves being on the floor, connecting with members, and working side-by-side with their team to create a welcoming and engaging environment.
Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager, this role will lead a passionate team committed to delivering outstanding experiences across our gym, personal training, and group fitness spaces. You’ll play a hands-on role in day-to-day operations, building strong relationships with members and supporting your team to thrive while enhancing overall member satisfaction.
As part of the leadership team, you’ll bring a positive, can-do attitude, confidently guide your team through change, and foster a fun, supportive culture where both staff and members feel valued. You’ll be someone who leads by example, isn’t afraid to jump in and help, and genuinely enjoys making a difference in people’s health and wellbeing journeys.
This is a full-time role that requires flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. You will balance being “in the thick of it” with effectively managing multiple priorities, always maintaining a calm, approachable, and solutions-focused mindset.
As the Health & Wellness Team Leader your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading the Health and Wellness team to consistently deliver top-tier, member-focused service
- Being highly visible and engaged on the floor, building strong relationships with members and staff
- Building, growing, and supporting our personal training business
- Coordinating training and development for gym floor staff, group fitness instructors, and personal trainers
- Developing and reviewing the group fitness timetable monthly, ensuring it aligns with budget and member demand
- Assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Health and Wellness team
- Managing staff rosters, ensuring alignment with payroll budgets and qualification compliance
- Monitoring and reporting on class attendance, member feedback, and survey results to drive continuous improvement
- Partnering closely with the Memberships Lead to enhance member journeys and support membership growth and sales
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Certificate III & IV in Fitness or relevant tertiary qualification
- Current CPR
- Provide First Aid
- Victorian Working with Children Check
- Experience in a managerial role within the health and wellness sector
- Experience in group fitness
- Strong communication skills
- Strong fitness prescription experience
- Strong computer skills including good knowledge in Microsoft Office
- Strong supervisory and conflict resolution skills
- Strong time management skills and an ability to manage competing priorities.
