The Position
As the Major Events Team Leader, you will lead the design, planning, approvals and delivery of Council’s Major Events Program, including flagship events such as Cabramatta Lunar New Year, Cabramatta Moon Festival and New Year’s Eve –
Illuminate. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee end-to-end event delivery, including stakeholder engagement, sponsorship, procurement, and post-event evaluation, ensuring events are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Based in Cabramatta, you will lead a small, high-performing team and work closely with internal stakeholders, emergency services, community groups and suppliers to deliver vibrant, culturally inclusive events that attract large audiences and meet community expectations.
This role suits an experienced events professional who can operate at both a strategic and operational level, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, large-scale community events.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Events Management or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Strong working knowledge of end-to-end event planning.
- Experience leading and developing teams, including contractors and volunteers.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers, managing compliance obligations and coordinating with emergency services.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and budgets
- Strong understanding of governance, probity, WHS and risk in events delivery
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Strong organisational and project management capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, corporate systems and databases
- Working knowledge of social media and design to guide promotional outcomes
- NSW Driver Licence (Class C)
- Working with Children Check
- First Aid Certificate
Salary & Employment Conditions
- Permanent full-time position, working 35 hours per week
- This position is a Grade 8, with a salary range of $114,499 p.a. with progression to $123,304 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, and performance progression up to $134,121 p.a. plus superannuation.
