As a Child Health Advanced Health Worker, you will support families, assist with child health checks, and help improve access to culturally safe care for mothers, infants, and young children across our region.

Working with us

About The Role
You will work closely with the Maternal, Child and Youth Health team and provide flexible support across services including Hearing Health and Immunisation to ensure continuity of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Assist with child health checks, hearing screening, growth monitoring, and health promotion activities.
- Provide culturally safe health education to parents and caregivers.
- Support referrals and follow-up care with families, GPs, and other services.
- Act as a cultural liaison to strengthen access to care and support culturally appropriate service delivery.
- Contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused on early childhood wellbeing.
Requirements
- Successful completion of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate IV Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) or Diploma in Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks and Blue Crad Checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
