About The Role
We are a SMALL swim school producing BIG results.
Little Big Swim have a rare permanent part time role for 20-30 hours for the right person (may built to full time)
We are not your average swim school, and this is not your average teaching gig. We are working towards building a team of permanent, experienced teachers and away from casual employment. We want to part of a change in the industry turning Aquatic jobs into long term careers.
Working independently and reporting to the head coach, you will divide your time between our Bunya Learn to Swim Pool and our Samford Stroke Development / Squad pool, you will be part of the core teaching team.
Our Bunya location is a roasty, toasty 32 degree salt water mineral outdoor (partially shaded) pool where our Baby and Kindy and Stroke Development Program lives.
One class at a time in our 12m pool, small class ratios. It is a gift to teach here - it's quiet - you can really capture the attention and imagination of your young swimmers in this distraction free environment. This is where our teacher's refine their teaching and class management skills.
Our Samford location is a 9 lane, 25m salt water pool. We teach Stroke Development, Mini Squad and Squads. The swim club, Samford Stingrays operate out of this pool and we are lucky enough to be heavily involved in the training of their competitive swimmers.
What you'll be doing
Some teaching Baby to Kindy Aquatics at our Bunya location
Some Samford and Bunya teaching Stroke Development and / or squads in the afternoons
Providing correction driven instruction
Providing a safe emotional space for swimmers to Learn and engage with what is often their first experience in having a teacher / coach outside of formal education
A handful of LIfe-guarding shifts during our quieter moments.
What we're looking for
Preferably you’ll have a couple of years of experience under your belt, but if you have a long held, burning desire to teach swimming, I’d like to talk to you because being the right kind of person for the job first is really important.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
What we offer
This really is a rare opportunity. So often in our industry Infant Aquatics and Stroke Development are disconnected from Squad.
At Little Big many of our core team operate across both spaces, making the transition from Learn to Swim to Stroke Development and then Stroke Dev to Squads a seamless one for our swimmers. This helps us retain swimmers in the water, seeing the vast majority of our swimmers continue in the sport and develop endurance and competitive strokes.
Are you our Person?
If you think that we have one of the best jobs on the planet – that every shift has micro wins, and a lot of shifts have big wins – then you are our people.
If you are deeply invested in the outcomes of your swimmers, if you find a new teaching method or swimming drill and think ‘YES!’ because you think it’s a great solve for an individual swimmer who is struggling to progress, you are our people.
If you have felt held back by a restrictive program or lack of guidance provided by your operators, this job is for you.
If you love being part of a team, but SHINE on your own, you are our people.
Small class ratios, outcome based, correction driven programming.
Lots of ongoing support and professional development provided.
