In this role, you’ll help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Swim School while providing exceptional customer service and supporting instructors and program staff. About The Role
As a Swim School Assistant, you will:
- Prioritise safety at all times, maintaining a fun, high-quality environment in line with WHS and legislative requirements.
- Assist with the coordination and daily operation of Swim School and aquatic programs, including managing bookings, class allocations, scheduling, and program delivery.
- Assess student progress, manage class levels, and provide regular feedback to parents and carers.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all patrons of the Willoughby Leisure Centre with a focus on the Swim School team.
- Respond to all Swim School enquiries and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Centre programs, membership terms, events, and entry fees.
- Support Swim School and aquatic program operations through timely and accurate administration, program planning, development, and evaluation.
- Contribute to program performance, including student participation and retention, program evaluation, and continuous improvement of aquatic programs.
- Provide leadership and support to casual staff, including recruitment, induction, and training, ensuring they are fully informed and knowledgeable about Centre services and programs.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and support Centre objectives through collaboration, meetings, and staff development.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and assist with updating operational procedures and manuals.
- Support reporting, compliance, and business operations, including incident management, data collection, and contribution to planning and budgets.
- Undertake additional duties as required and work flexibly across a 7-day rotating roster.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience in a similar position
- Computer literacy, familiarity with software packages and database systems
- Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service
- Advanced knowledge of aquatic programming & delivery
- Knowledge of recreation/leisure centre operations and programs
- Current Australian Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety qualification
- Current Provide First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Current Working with Children Check
Desirable
- Pool Lifeguard Certificate and/or Pool Operations Certificate.
- Current Australian Teacher qualification (Infant & Preschool, Access & Inclusion, Adults, Competitive Strokes).
- AUSTSWIM and Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher Assessor
- Squad coaching experience
- Knowledge of Perfect Gym software
- Tertiary qualifications in Sports Administration / Human Movement Studies or equivalent
- Current Drivers Licence
- Train the trainer qualifications
