Part-time or Casual Keeper (Food Prep. and Leaf Cutter).
About The Role
Our keepers connect guests with wildlife through creating and maintaining engaging world-class displays, delivering memorable guest experiences and ensuring best-practice animal welfare. As part of the Animal Health and Nutrition team, this position is responsible for daily preparation of animal diets across WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, as well as off-site horticulture collections for animal food and exhibitory enhancement.
Essential
About You
- Passion for working outdoors in a physical role with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Undertaking or completed tertiary qualifications in animal care and/or horticulture.
- Be guest obsessed demonstrating a passion for guest experience, education and connecting people with wildlife, sustainability and conservation.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, cope with frequent and unpredictable changes to daily routine and workloads, and to work, at times under high pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work unsupervised, assess tasks and set priorities for self.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the role including lifting and manipulating heavy objects and working outdoors in hot or inclement weather conditions.
- Current (or willingness to obtain at own expense) NSW Working with Children Check.
- Full NSW Driver’s License.
Desirable
- Experience in an animal care role in a zoo or aquarium setting.
- Horticulture and/or leaf cutting experience.
- Current First Aid / CPR.
- Chainsaw certificates.
