Your opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Fitness Centre and Pool is located within the Lismore campus and provides contemporary and purpose-built facilities for students, staff and the community. Services include personal training, swim squad, group exercise programs and specialist services including exercise physiology and athletic development training.
We are seeking a Senior Gym Attendant to work closely with the Gym Manager assisting with the management of day-to-day operations, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for our members. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Run group fitness classes and support members’ exercise programs and goals.
- Provide friendly assistance to members, including sign-ups, queries, suspensions and general engagement.
- Uphold and follow all membership procedures and internal processes accurately.
- Oversee day-to-day gym operations, including staff support, training and scheduling.
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming gym environment, ensuring safety protocols are met.
What you will bring
You are passionate about fitness and wellness and enjoy creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all members. You take pride in delivering a positive experience, engaging with people as they arrive, and contributing to a supportive, community-focused fitness space, while also being reliable and process-driven, with a strong sense of accountability and the ability to follow procedures through to completion.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- A qualification in a relevant field and experience in a gymnasium or similar, and at least 2 years’ experience in individual fitness coaching and group fitness.
- Hold and maintain current Senior First Aid and Resuscitation certificates, an NSW Working with Children Check clearance and a current NSW Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
- Proven ability to market and promote programs and membership for a gymnasium or similar fitness industry organisation.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with the community to build brand reputation.
Experience in sports science, exercise physiology or similar, and/or registration with relevant professional body would be considered favourably.

- The base salary will be in accordance with the Fitness Industry Award Level 4A, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation.
