Belgravia Leisure will commence managing a diverse portfolio of venues in partnership with the Merri-bek City Council from 1 July 2026:
- Brunswick Baths
- Coburg Leisure Centre
- Fawkner Leisure Centre
- Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre
- Coburg Olympic Swimming Pool
- Pascoe Vale Outdoor Pool
With hundreds of employees, and community impact in the thousands, these vibrant, high‑usage community hubs deliver aquatics, health & fitness, stadium sports, wellness programs and inclusive services for patrons of all ages and abilities.
About the Role
We are looking to appoint this pivotal role with Belgravia Leisure in our Merri-bek Contract within the Team to a suitably qualified and experienced individual who has the demonstrated ability to build and lead passionate, professional, highly engaged and customer centric teams.
The Area Operations Coordinator works closely with the Head of Facilities and Operations Managersacross the 6 sites under the Merri-bek Contract and is accountable and instrumental in determining the operational performance and excellence of these sites.
With a strong focus on WH&S,pool operations and facility presentation, the Area Operations Coordinator will have exceptional people skills, a passion for fulfilling the contractual goals and an ability to achieve specific objectives in a multi-functional capacity.
The Area Operations Coordinator key accountabilities include:
- Ensure the industry best practice is delivered in all areas of operations including but not limited to safety, standards, pool operations and contractor managementapplication of correct procedures, systems and staff training
- Partner with leaders across the six (6) sites to nurture a positive safety culture, risk management, asset management and contractor management
- Provide safety and sustainability technical oversight and ensure accurate safety statistics as well as input and maintenance of data
- Deliver the required technical and leadership support, coaching and mentoring to site leaders and frontline colleagues to successfully deliver on the agreed business safety & sustainability KPI's
- Undertake analysis of safety statistics and data to determine trends, risk management opportunities and focus areas for targeted inspections and ongoing improvement campaigns and report on findings and solutions to address trends
About You
To be considered for this role you must have a ‘can do’ attitude, high energy and an exceptional work ethic.
- 3 to 4+ years of experience working in a similar role
- A strong understanding of managing, leading and motivating teams
- The ability to influence and build relationships with partners and stakeholders
- Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) legislation and the ability to establish Health and Safety standards and procedures
- Work autonomously, take responsibility for own actions, accept constructive feedback, and act upon it
- Advanced problem solving and decision-making ability including
- Ability to act with courtesy and professionalism
- Cultural sensitivity and able to work across the community
- Excellent inter-personal, supervisory and networking skills
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
Essential Qualifications / Skills
- Previous management / leadership experience in similar role
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR
- Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- Aquatic Technical Operators Certificate
- Current Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
- Current National Police Check
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business or Sports Management
