The Opportunity
As a Casual Pool Lifeguard, you'll help create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone who visits our pools. You will:
- Actively supervise pool areas to ensure patron safety
- Respond quickly and calmly to incidents and emergencies
- Deliver friendly, professional customer service
- Assist with cleaning, maintenance and set-up tasks, physical fitness is essential.
- Work as part of a team across multiple pool locations
- Support a child-safe and safety-first environment
Hours: Casual shifts are typically between 5:00am-7:00pm, Monday-Sunday. (From time to time, shifts may extend beyond 7:00pm.) Flexibility in this role is key, as shifts may be offered at short notice.
Pay: Competitive hourly rate starting from $38.09, plus 25% casual loading. A minimum increase of 3.25% to the salary from 1 July 2026 in accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement.
Under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a paid NSW Working With Children Check. Applicants over the age of 18 must have a Paid NSW Working With Children Check to be considered for this position.
The recruitment process will include a mandatory practical physical testing. Key dates:
- The practical is anticipated to take place on 1 & 2 July 2026.
- Assessment Centre on the 9 July 2026.
- Mandatory induction date week of 21 September 2026.
How you'll make a difference
As a valued member of our Lifeguard Services team, you will:
- Keep our community safeby actively supervising pool areas and surrounding grounds to ensure compliance and prevent incidents.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming environmentby upholding high standards of hygiene throughout the facility.
- Support water quality and plant operations, helping to ensure our pools meet all regulatory standards.
- Deliver exceptional customer servicewith a friendly, professional approach to every interaction.
- Stay on top of documentation, including reports, checklists, and incident records to keep everything running smoothly.
- Champion child protection and workplace safety, following all protocols to create a secure space for everyone.
- Work collaborativelywith fellow staff, schools, swim clubs, contractors, and other stakeholders to support a vibrant and inclusive aquatic community.

You bring:
- A current Pool Lifeguard Certificateand CPR with the skills to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.
- First Aid (HLTAID011)qualifications to ensure the wellbeing of our patrons.
- A paid Working with Children Check (NSW) or willingness to obtain
- The physical capability to perform the role
