About the Position
Working within our Engineering Services Team, the Civil Design Coordinator is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the planning and delivery of the annual capital works program, with particular focus on traffic and transport engineering. This position ensures compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and organisational policies while maintaining a commitment to best practice in service delivery. A core function of the role is to uphold high standards of customer service by responding to community enquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner. The Civil Design Coordinator will engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate integrated outcomes that support the City's long-term infrastructure objectives.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (meeting the minimum requirement for affiliate membership of Engineers Australia)
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop engineering solutions and initiate strategies and initiatives collaboratively to address current and future needs.
- Highly developed mediation and negotiation skills coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of estimating practices and procedures, with the ability to apply accurate cost estimation methods to support budgeting, tendering, and project delivery.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of technical standards and specifications applicable to road and drainage design, including MRWA guidelines, Austroads standards, and relevant Australian Standards.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and specialised technical software, including AutoCAD and SIDRA.
- Demonstrated project management and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-organisational activities, manage competing priorities, and ensure the successful delivery of planned outcomes.
- Extensive experience in the design and construction of roads, drainage systems and municipal infrastructure in an urban environment, as well as expertise in traffic and transport engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing detailed specifications, administering contracts in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements, and effectively manage consultants to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Possession of a current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
- A current National Police Clearance
