The role
We are looking for a Regulatory & Nutrition Lead (R&N Lead) who will act as a key business partner, within the broader R&D team, to provide expert regulatory and nutrition guidance to support strategic growth plans, and innovation across The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC) ANZ.
The role is accountable for ensuring product and communication compliance with local regulatory requirements, to guide the business, while also shaping and influencing the nutrition and health agenda to support portfolio strategy.
The R&N Lead represents TMICC externally through engagement with key stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, customers and consumers.
This role works cross-functionally across local, regional and global teams, covering both technical and commercial functions, and requires strong influencing capability and the ability to translate complex regulatory and nutrition requirements into practical business outcomes.
This role is for an end of July start. This role is a hybrid permanent role based across our Sydney CBD office and our Minto manufacturing site.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Lead the ANZ R&N agenda, aligning with business strategy and identifying opportunities and risks across the portfolio
- Provide regulatory leadership and sign-off for the ANZ portfolio, ensuring compliance with applicable food standards, labelling, allergen and claims
- Lead compliance assessment and issue resolution, proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks across innovation, and manufacturing
- Develop and maintain regulatory frameworks, policies and guardrails to enable consistent and compliant decision-making across the business
- Monitor and interpret emerging regulatory developments, public health policy, nutrition science and consumer trends, translating these into clear implications and recommendations for the business
- Build strong relationships with R&N counterparts locally and in the EU-ANZ cluster and seek opportunities to work together on materials for employee education, stakeholder engagement and advocacy. Actively share insights and learnings with relevant global teams to help deliver the R&N programme
- Actively participate in external forums and industry groups to advocate for the business on topics such as front-of-pack labelling, responsible marketing practices, nutrition and health claims, product reformulation, voluntary initiatives and pledges,
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience in the FMCG environment: food industry or commercially similar (min 10 years) in regard to regulatory risk assessment and can operate confidently:
- with cross functional stakeholders to translate the R&N agenda into meaningful business outcomes.
- explaining complex scientific and regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for non-technical audiences
- with knowledge and practical application of local regulatory requirements for foods and beverages (e.g. FSANZ Code), including labelling, allergens and claims
- Within the ANZ health and nutrition landscape
- Brings strong skills in:
- Team orientation and strong teamwork skills
- Superior analytical, communication and presentation skills
- Stakeholder management
- Thinks end-to-end and takes ownerships for delivering outcomes that balance compliance and commercial needs
- Is comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving organisation
- Values collaboration, clarity and low-ego ways of working
- Has a Bachelor or MSC (Master of Science) degree in nutrition-related discipline;
- Has an APD (Accredited Practicing Dietitian)/ AN (Accredited Nutritionist) with Dietitians Australia or Nutrition Society of Australia (preferred)
