About The Role
Belgravia Leisure is seeking an experienced and dynamic Group Fitness (Exercise) Coordinator to lead group exercise programming across the City of Sydney’s premier aquatic and fitness centres.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating over 400 group exercise classes per week, delivered by a network of approximately 100 instructors, across multiple iconic facilities. You will provide strategic oversight, operational coordination and inspirational leadership to ensure programs are safe, inclusive, high quality and responsive to the needs of Sydney’s diverse communities.
This position plays a key role in strengthening instructor capability, enhancing member experience, and supporting the continued growth and evolution of group fitness across the City of Sydney.

The scope
As Group Fitness (Exercise) Coordinator, you will oversee a diverse and high-volume program portfolio including (but not limited to):
- Les Mills programs
- Aqua Aerobics and deep-water programs
- Cycle / Spin
- Strength, conditioning and HIIT
- Wellness-based programs (e.g. Pilates, Yoga, mobility and recovery)
- Open-Format and targeted programs for older adults, culturally diverse communities and other priority groups
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a citywide group exercise timetable, reviewed and refreshed every four months
- Manage instructor resourcing, including planned and unplanned leave, cover arrangements and payroll compliance
- Recruit, onboard, mentor and retain a sustainable pipeline of high-quality group fitness instructors
- Provide regular coaching, feedback and performance conversations with instructors
- Ensure all instructors maintain required qualifications, registrations and compliance documentation
- Monitor attendance, participation trends and program effectiveness using both data and qualitative feedback, to support continual improvement
- Deliver Les Mills program launches and group exercise activations across multiple centres
- Collaborate with Centre Leadership, Community Engagement and Health & Wellbeing teams on program development and promotion
- Support inclusive, welcoming class environments that reflect the City of Sydney community
- Teach and/or attend multiple classes and member events per week, maintaining strong visible leadership on the floor
About You
You are a confident and organised group fitness leader who thrives in a fast paced, multisite environment. You enjoy balancing strategic oversight with hands-on delivery and are passionate about supporting instructors to do their best work.
You Bring
- Extensive experience delivering and coordinating group exercise programs
- Strong leadership, communication and people management skills
- The ability to manage complex timetables, large instructor teams and changing priorities
- A practical understanding of participation growth, member experience and program sustainability
- A commitment to inclusion, accessibility and culturally safe practice
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required
Essential Qualifications
- Certificate III in Fitness or Group Exercise Leader qualification
- Current AusActive (or equivalent) registration
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Working With Children Check
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
