Willoughby Leisure Centre is entering an exciting new chapter with the upcoming opening of its fully transformed leisure and aquatic facility. The Centre will offer a diverse range of aquatic and wellness spaces, alongside programs designed to support swimming, fitness, relaxation, and community connection in a high-quality environment.
We are seeking
Casual Lifeguards to help keep our pools safe, welcoming and enjoyable for all visitors. You will supervise pool areas, support customers, promote water safety, and respond to emergencies in line with Centre policies and procedures.

About The Role
As a
Casual Lifeguard, you will:
- Supervise pool areas, respond to incidents and rescues, and provide first aid as required, ensuring safety is the top priority.
- Follow procedures and emergency plans to support effective pool operations.
- Engage with patrons, enforce rules, and promote responsible and positive behaviour.
- Maintain clean and well-presented facilities through daily cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and report issues, including hazards, incidents, maintenance, and plant/pool checks to Senior Lifeguard, Aquatic Operations Team Leader or Duty Manager.
- Support programs and events, including swim school, activities, and centre events, with setup and pack-down as needed.
- Assist with pool operations, including managing pool space and supporting daily activities.
- Complete basic documentation, including incident reports and daily records.
- Work as part of a team, supporting senior staff and following instructions.
- Liaise with staff and user groups to help deliver a positive experience for all patrons.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong observation, organisation and planning skills.
- Good communication skills and commitment to high-quality customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including resolving minor issues with patrons and staff.
- Experience in customer service environments.
- Previous experience working in the Aquatic industry as a lifeguard.
- Knowledge of Lifeguarding principles and safe pool operations according to the Royal Life.
- Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate.
- Current Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation.
- Swimming and Water Safety Teacher Certificate.
- Availability across a 7-day week, with flexible shift availability as required.
