Casual Learn to Swim Instructors to join Willoughby Leisure Centre as it opens following a major transformation, featuring a state-of-the-art facility with new lap pools, dedicated learn-to-swim spaces, warm water program pools, spa and sauna facilities, and a children’s splash zone. In this role, you will plan and deliver high-quality learn to swim lessons in line with the Willoughby Leisure Swim School teaching guidelines, using a safe, fun and innovative approach, while applying strong technical knowledge of swimming instruction to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

About The Role
As a
Casual Learn to Swim Instructor, you will:
- Deliver educational and engaging learn-to-swim lessons in line with Swim School teaching guidelines, prioritising safety at all times.
- Identify and respond to risks, hazards and emergencies in line with safety procedures.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs, abilities, and developmental stages of participants.
- Monitor, assess, and record participant progress accurately, ensuring consistent reporting against assessment criteria.
- Set up, manage, and pack down Swim School equipment, ensuring resources are used safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, instructors, and Swim School staff to support service delivery and enquiries.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised teaching environment while adhering to all WHS and risk management procedures.
- Participate in training, professional development, and team meetings to maintain qualifications and support continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently with small groups of children and/or adults.
- Knowledge of Learn to Swim classes and ability to instruct a range of ages and abilities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Commitment to a minimum 3-month period and reasonable availability.
- Current Australian Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification.
- Current CPR Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check.
Desirable
- Previous experience teaching Learn to Swim and/or junior squads.
- Current Australian Teacher of Infant and Preschool qualification.
- Current Australian Teacher of Access & Inclusion qualification.
- Current Australian Teacher of Adults qualification.
- Current Australian Teacher of Competitive Strokes qualification.
- Current Bronze Coaching Accreditation.
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate.
- Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
